Send her a gift card to her favorite store/restaurant and put it in a little gift box. That way with the gift card she can buy whatever she wants/needs. If you send her a gift card to her favorite restaurant, she will appreciate it going out for a treat with her friends.
I have sent different gift cards (restaurants and stores) on different occasions like weddings and birthdays and all the gift cards has been used. I know they've been used because I track the account number cause I'm nosey :P
People always appreciate it.

Edit: Also, don't think of this as a competition because your parents are giving her a "bigger" gift. Little gifts like this are always appreciated and because you care and love this person.

Something girls right now are crazy for: A "Chi" hair curler, complete "Bed Head" hair care set....maybe some "Hello Kitty" stuff......
